This is a cake that was requested for a 21st birthday party and was to be a bit of a surprise for the young man in question. He  is studying both history and genetics, so I was asked to do something that would reflect his interests in these areas. Other than that the design was left to me, and this was the result!

I quite enjoyed making this cake as it turned out to be quite an interesting project. Every new cake I do seems to come with its own set of challenges, this one in particular with all its different components was a fairly ambitious project.  I feel however that I have learnt a lot in making this cake and look forward to hopefully honing my skills on another stack of books again soon!
