tiffany box cakeThis is the other cake that I made for the joint 21st.  The birthday girl loves all things Tiffany & Co, including as it turns out my cake.

The challenge with this was trying to keep everything square on such a large cake, as usual however, I prevailed!

audi car cakeThis is a cake that I made for a friends joint 21st birthday party.  The birthday boy wanted me to reproduce his Audi in marble mud cake – mission accomplished!

As it’s always said “the devil is in the details” and so it was with this cake, the more I put on it the better it looked, from the number plates at the front all the way back to the dual exhaust pipes at the rear.

This is a cake that was requested for a 21st birthday party and was to be a bit of a surprise for the young man in question. He  is studying both history and genetics, so I was asked to do something that would reflect his interests in these areas. Other than that the design was left to me, and this was the result!

I quite enjoyed making this cake as it turned out to be quite an interesting project. Every new cake I do seems to come with its own set of challenges, this one in particular with all its different components was a fairly ambitious project.  I feel however that I have learnt a lot in making this cake and look forward to hopefully honing my skills on another stack of books again soon!

    motorbike cake

A friend recently came to me asking for a cake with a motorbike and side car theme.  My original concept was to make the whole cake in the shape of the motorbike, but after careful deliberation I decided that it was probably a little ambitious and so came up with this instead.

The figures on top and the motorbike were of course the trickiest part of this cake, and as this is only the second time that I have tried making figures it was a bit of a challenge.  I am however happy with how the cake turned out and am looking forward to future projects!

Johnnie Walker CakeThis is a cake that I made for my uncle Henry’s 60th birthday.  As a great appreciator of the Johnnie Walker range, I was sure that he would appreciate this.  The cake itself was my trusty chocolate mud cake recipe, as provided by “Planet Cake”!!  This time however I split the cake into three layers and filled each with a dark chocolate ganache.  It was…….glorious:)

cherry blossom cakeThis was actually quite a fun cake to make, and it has turned out to be one of my favourites so far.  The design was painted directly onto the surface of the cake using food colourings diluted with vodka.  It was very similar to painting with water colours.  I really enjoyed making this cake and will hopefully have a chance to do another painted cake soon.

animal cupcakesThese are some cupcakes that my wife and I made for the RSPCA cupcake day.  We made four flavours.  The pigs are on a vanilla mud cake, the panda bears on a caramel mud cake, the sheep are a lemon meringue cupcake and the monkeys are on a banana cupcake.  We want to give a big thank you to everyone who supported us, we raised $372 and had a lot of fun doing it…charity is delicious:)

silhouette bird cakeThis was a cake that was commissioned by my friend and former employer, Rosa.  It was a birthday cake for her brother.  I really like making black and white cakes, the contrast always makes for a very striking design.
